It’s not every day you have the opportunity to interview Mariah Carey, one of
the most successful pop stars of recent years. Mariah was in Italy to perform
on X Factor; she met the media in a luxury hotel in the center of Milan:
Mariah
taped an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman earlier tonight,
November 9th at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City. She sat for an
interview with David and performed her new single, "H.A.T.E.U." The episode
will air on Friday,
November 13th at 11:35pm ET/PT on CBS. Below are pictures of Mariah with

Lee Daniels' "Precious: Based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire" has
exceeded even the highest of expectations in its opening weekend, according to
estimates provided by Rentrak earlier today. The film - which has been the
source of much anticipation and buzz since its Sundance debut in January -
grossed a stunning $1,800,000 from just 18 theaters over the weekend,
averaging an essentially unheard of $100,000. That gives it the third best
live action per-theater-average of all time, surpassed only by 2006's "Dreamgirls"
and 2005's "Brokeback Mountain." However, those two films had opened on 3 and
5 theaters respectively. "Precious"'s wide-by-comparison 18 theaters make it
all the more impressive.
"Precious" was distributed by Lionsgate, who had acquired the film shortly
after Sundance in a heated bidding war. The deal, brokered by Cinetic, was
said to be worth $5.5 million, and weaved in the support of both Oprah Winfrey
and Tyler Perry, who came on board as executive producers. The plan obviously
seems to have worked so far, with theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago
and Atlanta reporting large crowds and sell out shows for "Precious." The film
grossed $587,859 on Friday, and then rose to $699,514 on Saturday (averaging
$38,800 per theater on that day alone), and was estimated to take in an
additional $512,627 today.
The numbers countered the early expectations that director Lee Daniels says he
had for the movie. "It's still a bit premature as all the weekend numbers
aren't in yet," Daniels told indieWIRE on Saturday, just as the film passed
the $1 million mark. "Remember, I thought 'Push/Precious' was going straight
to DVD and I was cool with that. So, when I got this info I was slayed."
"Precious" will expand considerably this Friday, November 13th, both within
the markets it debuted in and in the Philadelphia, Dallas, Washington, San
Francisco, and Houston areas.
I was invited to the screening of the new Mariah Carey T4 special.

a down to earth, up for a laugh woman who really does deserve the title as
Pops hardest working woman!

Director Brett Ratner posted a picture of him and Mariah on the set of the "H.A.T.E.U."
video shoot in Los Angeles, and announced on hi s Twitter page:

Mariah Carey’s seasonal classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has
been given a 2009 upgrade by both Mariah & David Morales.
Together they have produced a new radio edit & two new club remixes. A source
tells us that “some additional ad-libs” will be featured on the club remixes.
The tracks are expected to go to radio late November with digital release
around that time too. There are no plans for a commercial single at this time.

Mariah is scheduled to film the music video for "H.A.T.E.U." her third single
off Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel this week in an undisclosed, private location
in Los Angeles, California.
Brett Ratner will be directing the "H.A.T.E.U." music video and it will be his
and Mariah's 8th time to work together. As we all know, Brett recently directed
the Platinum hit "Obsessed" earlier this year. Other Mariah music videos he has
helmed include "I Still Believe" (1998), "Heartbreaker" (1999), "Thank God I
Found You" (2000), "It's Like That" (2005), "We Belong Together" (2005) and
"Touch My Body" (2008) music videos.
Dustin Robertson, better known in Music Videoland as AVIDDIVA, has once again
been tasked to cut the new music video. He previously worked on the original and
remix versions of "Obsessed;" and "It's Like That" and "We Belong Together" in
2005. All of next week, Dustin will be working hard on editing "H.A.T.E.U." and
will be posting daily updates on his progress and any new information about the
video on his theAVIDDIVA Twitter page.
She’s celebrating the release of new single, I Want To Know Where Love Is
(don’t we all, luv), by jetting across the pond for a 48-hour quick stay in
London.Strictly fans will get to see her sing on the show when she appears as
a guest performer.
Then she’ll turn on the Christmas lights at Westfield Shopping Centre (you
know, the gigantic one in Shepherd’s Bush with, like, a zillion shops). And I
wasn’t surprised when organisers let slip that Mariah wants to make a big
entrance.
“It’s going to be Christmas themed,” said an insider. “She’s been looking back
at her Santa Baby video for inspiration. “She wants to make it a big deal. She
likes to be noticed you know.”
