Mariah called in to Philadelphia's Q102 FM to promote her upcoming album, E=MC² on Tuesday, March 11th. During her phone interview with DJ Jessie Jordan, Mariah also talked about her new single "Touch My Body" - its video and digital release, diet, Oprah appearance in April, motherhood, among other topics. The full transcript is as follows.

Jessie Jordan: Hi, Miss Mariah.
Mariah Carey: Hi, Miss Jessie.
JJ: How are you?
MC: I am fantastic, how are you?
JJ: Life is good for you, huh?
MC: Life is lovely, I'm very grateful, blessed, thank you. How's life over there with you?
JJ: Pretty good, you know? My hands are freezing, but other than that, life's okay.
MC: Why are your hands freezing?
JJ: I don't know, it's cold outside. I stepped outside to get some fresh air before you called and...
MC: Oh, were you smoking a cigarette?
JJ: Maybe...
MC: That explains it!
JJ: Do you smoke cigarettes, Mariah?
MC: No I do not, but I did in like 12 to 18 eventhough I'm eternally 12 and then I quit, in one day!
JJ: Yeah, I really wanna quit, really really bad.
MC: Well, I had to do it, because it was messing up with my voice and thank God.
JJ: Speaking of your voice, it's taking you a long way...
MC: Yeah, I'm very grateful for that.
JJ: I've heard that if you have this "Touch My Body" goes #1, you're gonna beat out Elvis, pretty mama!
MC: You know, we can't say it like that, because obviously, there are things that are historic and I'm just happy people are liking the song and playing the record and very grateful to you for playing the song, "Touch My Body". FYI, in case anybody out there has tried and, 'cause people have been calling me like "why can't we download this on iTunes or whatever?" It's going to be available on March 24th.
JJ: And your album's coming out April 15th, I heard?
MC: Yeah, April 15th is the entire album. I was still in the studio this morning, like, you know, and I'm never even up during the day, that's a rarity, but I was in the studio this morning, because I can't let go of this album 'cause I really do love it and I feel that it's definitely, definitely one of my best albums, one of my favorite albums of my own, and that's why I called it E=MC² because it's like The Emancipation of Mimi Part 2, Emancipation equals Mariah Carey to the second power, basically.
JJ: Right, and isn't there also some kind of like really scientific meaning behind that?
MC: Oh yeah, it's Einstein's little theory.
JJ: I don't know what that is...
MC: I don't know what it is but I love it! Honestly, I failed remedial math and science class wasn't much better, so basically that's kind of part of the joke of the album but there are a lot of jokes on it, even if you listen to the single, clearly I'm having some fun and joking around and you know, whatever.
JJ: So can you tell us a little bit about your video?
MC: Same situation... I worked with Brett Ratner, who's a really good friend of mine and he does big movies, he did Rush Hour, 1,2 and 3, and the last X-Men, he really doesn't do videos anymore, but he just did it as a favor to me and he knows that I'm like a jokester and that I have a sense of humor and that I don't take this whole thing that seriously so he just wanted to bring out the comedic... he's a comedic director, anyway. He's amazing, he can do everything but that's one of his strong points and he understands that I have a sense of humor so he wanted to bring that out. And that's how the video came about.
JJ: You worked with Jack McBrayer from 30 Rock? I heard he called you a "living Barbie Doll"?
MC: He did? Ah, he was really fun. He's a genius, he really is a comedic genius 'cause obviously he's not that nerd/geek in real life. He's hilariously funny. When we were doing his, I don't know if you saw the video, but in the beginning of the video he like answered the door and he says a bunch of things. If you could see the outtakes, if people could see the outtakes, they'll be laughing on the floor.
JJ: Didn't you get hit in the head by a frisbee?
MC: Yes, I did. Actually, it was a very Marcia Brady moment. I got hit in the nose with a frisbee and I'm trying to play it off like somebody could at least get a funny shot because it was hilarious but I don't think, I don't know if they actually got that on film.
JJ: I've seen a lot of pictures of you lately. Your body's bangin' dude.
MC: Oh thank you, man.
JJ: What are you doin', man?
MC: Basically, the diet is like no butter, no oil, nothing that remotely tastes good.
JJ: Damn it. [laughs]
MC: Yeah. It's not a fun thing but you know.
JJ: I also heard that your cover's gonna be you just wearing a hat and some heels?
MC: No, I don't think so. [laughs] That's the cover of the single. I mean I'm not wearing a hat on my head. The hat is actually, I'm treating it as a dress. It's a very big hat.
JJ: Oh, that's a very big dress, small dress.
MC: Well, it's either a small dress or a big hat, you know, whatever you choose to say.
JJ: And you're gonna be on Oprah, right? What day is that gonna air, do you know?
MC: What day is Oprah gonna air! I do believe... I don't know my schedule. You'd think I'd be professional by now. (Come on, there's a record company up in here.) [Sings] If there's a label up in here... (Come on.) 16th? Okay. April 16th, I believe which is the day after my album comes out. Oh, April 14th, actually.
JJ: Is this your first time meeting Oprah?
MC: Nooo. I've actually have been to Oprah's home - both in Africa and here in California.
JJ: Is she down-to-earth?
MC: Yes, she's an amazing person. I'm actually very honored to know her.
JJ: I'm very honored to talk to you, Miss Mariah.
MC: I'm very honored to talk to you, Miss Jessie.
JJ: Wait, one more question. So everybody's getting pregnant these days. Are you gonna have a baby anytime soon?
MC: Because everybody else is? No, that's not my game plan in life. That's not how we do things, you know. But, you know, what have you, it's a life choice when you decide to do that. It's not about like, "Hey, everybody else is having babies, let's go."
JJ: Yeah, I'm gonna have a baby, let's go, let's go bang dude. Pick anyone off the street and just bang 'em.
MC: [Laughs]
JJ: You're awesome, Mariah. Your album's out April 15th. E=MC². So excited for you. I hope big things happen which I know they're gonna. I loved your last album and I'm certain you probably pulled yourself together for this next one.
MC: I tried to pull myself together.
JJ: You're looking good so hey!
MC: Hey! Well, thank you very much.
JJ: If I could look that... damn I don't even look that good at 27.
MC: Are you 27?
JJ: I am.
MC: Oh, Jessie.
JJ: I know, I'm old.
MC: Well, what are you gonna do? Just be eternally 12 like me and that's how you do it.
JJ: I love it. You have a birthday coming up too so...
MC: No, I don't have birthdays, I have anniversaries.
JJ: Oh, can I sing you a Happy Early Birthday?
MC: No, you can sing Happy Anniversary.
JJ: Okay. Happy Anniversary to you...
MC: Oh that's the one that goes, Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary! That's that song.
JJ: I don't know that one.
MC: Yeah, that's a good one. You gotta learn that one now. Stop at 27, it's a good number. [laughs]
JJ: Alright, do you want to announce your song? We're gonna play it on the radio for everybody.
MC: Okay. I'm Mariah and this is my new single. You are listening to Jessie Jordan and here's my single, Touch My Body on Q102.
JJ: Bye, Mariah!
MC: Bye, Jessie! Thank you.
JJ: Yay! I did it! [claps] That was Mariah freakin' Carey. Hahaha! I was nervous though. Look at my hand.
