■ Mariah to Star in "Tennessee" ?
Carey tunes up indie pic, Grammy-winning diva heads to 'Tennessee' Mariah Carey will star in Tennessee, an independent drama to be directed by Aaron Woodley (Rhinoceros Eyes) from a script by Russell Schaumberg, reports Variety. The film will be produced by Lee Daniels (Monster's Ball) and shoots in New Mexico and Tennessee this spring.
Carey plays a waitress who sets off with two brothers to find their estranged father. Their goal: Get dad involved in saving their younger brother, who has leukemia. While Carey's movie resume is overshadowed by the disappointing 2001 film Glitter, Daniels got the idea to cast her after watching her Grammy-winning album "The Emancipation of Mimi" become the biggest selling disc of 2005 and viewing her work in 2002's WiseGirls.
前に映画の話が進んでいるというニュースがありましたが、どうやらこの「テネシー」という映画のことみたいですね。来年3月公開予定で今春からニューメキシコとテネシーで撮影が開始されるようです。このインディー映画の内容は二人の兄弟が生き別れしたオヤジさんを探しの旅に出るのですがその二人に協力して一緒に探すウエイトレス役がどうやらマライアらしい。で、弟が白血病らしくオヤジさんに会わせてあげたい....っといったお涙Please系のもののようです。ちなみにこの映画のキャストですが、カルキン坊やとジャネットも出演しているようです。最近ジャネット様、凄い体系になってますが、どうやらこの映画の役作りのためっと言ってるそうなんですが、一体どういう役なんでしょうかね？話によるとカルキン坊やのお相手役のようなのですが...。この映画でマライア＆ジャネットの噂のコラボが実現する可能性は大いにありですよね。ってかマライア〜〜！コンサートツアーはどぉ〜なったんだよぉ〜〜〜〜〜っ！ってか本当にこれ出るんでしょうかね？

Congratulations to Mariah for winning the Best Album award for "The Emancipation of Mimi" at tonight's 37th Annual NAACP Image Awards!
Carey, who was not at the ceremony when it began, was tied with Kanye West and Alicia Keys for four nominations each going into the awards honoring achievement by black artists in movies, television, music and literature.

Only two artists have spent 50 weeks or more at No. 1 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. The first and record holder is Mariah Carey with a total of 89 weeks followed by Boyz II Men, with 50 weeks in pole position
The Hot 100 Airplay chart was first published in the Dec. 8, 1990 issue of Billboard. That means that Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" never appeared on this tally, because it was a hit before the chart existed. The chart's first No. 1 was "Love Takes Time," which would have had two more weeks at No. 1 had the chart been published earlier. Despite this, Mariah has racked up 89 weeks in the lead position. times, showed their affection for their furry companions when they stepped out
on Tuesday afternoon.Mariah was accompanied by her four-legged friend Jack when she arrived for an MTV awards ceremony in New York. The 35-year-old, who usually wears skimpy gowns to showbiz events, was looking rather more demure in jeans and a cropped black top. Her canine companion was dressed to impress, however, in a specially-made green velvet jacket with an orange fur-trimmed hood.
And it would appear his A-list owner isn’t the only one smitten with the pooch, as a group of Japanese fans have set up a website in his honour. "I laughed out loud for ten minutes when I found out about Jack’s website," revealed the glamorous chanteuse. "He really is a very cool dog. It talks all about him - like his swimming antics - on his website. They love Jack."

グラミー賞で着ていたドレスですが、パフォーマンス時のあのピンクのドレスはHerve Leger（エルベ・ レジェ）デザインのドレスだったそうです。あんまりよく知らないのですが、フレグランスで名が知れてるみたいですが、今度出すマライアのフレグランスと関わりがあるんでしょうかね？で、バックステージでトロフィー持って写ってる黒のドレスがAzzedine Alaiaのドレスだそうで、これがナオミ様が選んでくれたドレスだったんですね。

According to All Access, the official radio impact for "Fly Like A Bird" is set for different dates in the different radio formats, as follows:
March 14, 2006 - Top 40 Rhythmic-Crossover
April 4, 2006 - Top 40 Mainstream
In addition, we are able to reveal that the song will primarily be sent to Urban and Gospel radio stations.
At the moment, no information is available about a music video for the song.
Mariah performed a rousing rendition of "Fly Like A Bird" and earned a standing ovation at the recently-held Grammy Awards. In the February 25th issue of Billboard magazine, the song debuts at #21 on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-hop Singles.

■ Grammys Lose Ratings War
With the Grammys losing to Idol in the ratings war, many people are speculating as to why America, particularly the younger demographic, prefers to watch the singing competition. Some feel that the Grammys are an adult show, catering to the crowd who wants to see performances by Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and the Sly Stone tribute.
This year it could be argued that the Grammys did not televise enough awards, since the show was dominated by live performances. For instance, Mariah Carey had a monster year on the charts, but not one of her Grammy wins was shown on TV. Perhaps the younger crowd would rather see their favorite artists win a trophy and make a speech than perform live. The problem also could be the glut of awards shows that are shown on television, and the fact that people would rather watch awards that the public actually votes on - like the American Music Awards and the People's Choice Awards - rather than ones the Academy chooses.
はい、今年のグラミーの視聴率の結果ですがこの11年間でワースト１だったようで、アメリカン・アイドルに倍弱もの差をつけられてたそうです。確かに...アメリカン・アイドルめちゃくちゃ面白いですからね〜。で、このワースト記録を作ったグラミーの問題点として、まず一番の原因は「オッサンが見たい番組」になってしまっていること。豪華なゲストってのはわかりますが若者は別に興味ありませんし、豪華な競演やらで演奏時間をかけ過ぎて肝心のいろんな部門の授賞時間をカットし過ぎてる点が指摘されています。「例をあげるとマライアなんか一番活躍したアーティストだし3部門も授賞してるのにTVでは何も映さなかった。若い人たちは自分が好きなアーティストがトロフィーを持って授賞スピーチするのを一番見たがっている。これはAMAやピープル・チョイスの賞のようなオーディエンスが選ぶ賞であれば皆は見るだろうということです。本当にそうですよね。ちなみにマライアのパフォーマンスは最高視聴率圏内をマークした4人のうちの一人だったそうです。さすがね！

Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL is moonlighting as a stylist after helping to create pal MARIAH CAREY's Grammy Awards look on Wednesday night.
The British beauty whisked Carey off to Europe to help her find a fitting AZZEDINE ALAIA red carpet outfit for the awards show.
Grateful Carey says, "I flew to Paris with Naomi Campbell and she is the most wonderful person in the world because she took time out of her life to get my dress together for me."

■ Mariah Carey Debuts on TV in Spots for Intel
Intel will break a new TV ad starring Mariah Carey during tonight's Grammy Awards presentation on CBS. Two 30-second hits will air during the program. Carey makes her TV commercial debut in the spots from McCann-Erickson NY.
In the spot, a man is working on his laptop wearing headphones. Carey appears on his lap. “Making a playlist for your girl?” she purrs. “Yeah, my, uh, our favorite songs,” he meekly replies. “Like this one?” Carey launches into song. Voiceover says: “With the new Centrino Duo, your digital entertainment really comes to life.”
The ad continues the “Entertainment in your Lap” theme Intel started in September 2005, featuring celebrities like Tony Hawk, John Cleese, Lucy Liu and Seal. TV, print and outdoor were part of the multimillion dollar campaign.
"Our first 'Laps' campaign for the Intel Centrino was really successful; we have strong attention and recall and consumers got the message on how powerful mobile technology enables entertainment on the go,” said Sean Connolly, integrated marketing manager at Intel. “We are building on this success … and bringing in more celebrities that people are excited to see. Mariah Carey has a lot going for her, her latest album is selling really well, she got eight nominations on the Grammys—she has the perfect profile to demonstrate to consumers how they can enjoy her music any way, any time, without the wires."
Intel will make the Carey spots available on its Web site and is looking into other Internet integration as well.
Intel said it has a number of other spots that will air “in the next couple of months.” It declined to say which other celebrities are part of the campaign but did say that print, outdoor and online would accompany the TV ads.
はい、ちょっとUPするの忘れてました（笑）もぅこのＣＭ皆見てると思いますが、インテルのLapキャンペーンの1番手としてマライアが起用され登場しました。より身近にエンターティメントを感じようっという趣旨に沿ってうまく表現されています。男の子がヘッド フォンをあてながらPCを開けるを彼の膝の上にゴージャスなマライア様が現れます。彼はビックリ！そしてマライアが「彼女の為にプレイリストを作ってるの？」聞き、「えっ、はい、僕達の好きな曲をね」と男は答える。すると「これは好き？」っと言ってマライアがMine Againを歌いだします。そして彼はビックリしながらも「はい！僕たちはその歌が大好きさ！」っと答えて終わるっという感じです。インテルはグラミー賞で8部門にノミネートされTEOMの大成功と多くの人々がマライアを愛して、高く関心を持っているし、CMにマライアを起用することはとてもよい宣伝になるとと言ってます。また、次も有名なアーティストが登場するようで今は名前は伏せているようです。

■ マライア・キャリー「体重管理はニガテ」
マライア・キャリーいわく、公の場で彼女が食べる姿が見られないのは、ベッドで食べるのが好きだからとのこと。マライアは表紙を飾った米「マリー・クレール」誌3月号の中で、「小枝のようにガリガリ」になろうとしているわけではないが、「体重管理はニガテ」なのだと語った。

■ In Rock Magazine Vol.267 Interview
15日発売ですがなぜかもうすでに発売されていたので買ってきました。In Rockちょっとあまくみてましたが、凄い！全フルカラーの5ページにも及ぶ本当にロングインタビューでした。これで写真がお初モノであれば最高なんですが...。インタビューの内容はこれまでのいろんな海外雑誌の一部一部を繋ぎ合わせた感じなんであまり新鮮ではありませんが、まぁちゃんと訳されてますのでわかりやすいと思いますよ。やっぱりね...仕事はプロフェッショナル、人としては慈悲深くとても賢い人だなぁ〜ってのがわかります。ってかAMAのあの衣装の時やっぱりノーパンだったんですね...見えないけど雑誌のある部分を角度を変えながら何度か凝視してしまった（バカ）。まぁ他にも履いてないっぽい時って結構見受けられるんですが、やっぱその時も履いてなかったのかな...

■ The Grammy Did Mariah Carey Wrong
Last night's Grammy ceremony was the first that I have watched completely in such a long time. The talent level was pretty high. I could have done without Madonna. I mean, she is an icon but once I heard they chose her over Mariah Carey to open the show, I suspected trouble was looming.
Now I want to know, how is it that you have one of the most successful albums of the year. You get nominated for eight Grammys, you perform two of the most difficult songs in your catalog live and you win three awards, but they don't even bother to give you any of your awards on air?
Think about it, for the last 16 years Mariah has been credited with selling 150 million albums and singles worldwide but yet she hasn't been a regular at the Grammys. Back in the 1995-1996 era she was nominated for about 6 awards and she was shut out.
Well, I thought last night would be her night to shine. She gave a solid performance, but wasn't even given the chance to bask in the moment of accepting a trophy for all her hard work in front of her peers. Someone needs their ass kicked. If Ciara's (although beautiful) non singing ass can be given air time to make a fool of herself, then why not give Mimi her moment?
Otherwise Mary J. Blige killed it. Fantasia, was well... Fantasia. John Legend, if nothing else he deserves recognition for consistency. Jamie Foxx, president of J...F-U, looked like a lawn jockey. He and that "other guy" he performed with who's name I am not allowed to mention. Thank God he didn't win the Grammy for best male r&b vocal performance. I don't know if I could take anymore showboating. However I give much props to that "other guy" he performed with who's name I am not allowed to mention.
I was gonna swear off even watching next year's ceremony but R&B will dominate again. Already you can count on Mary J., Jamie and even the forthcoming Beyonce/Dreamgirls project to have multiple nominations.
グラミー賞も終わり次に出てくる話は賞レースの結果についての各メディアの感想などがたくさん出ていますが、「マライアは完全にグラミーから認められていない」って書かれています。この記事ではまず、「マドンナは出なくてよかった、ただのショウのアイコンにしかすぎない」っと正当な評価。そして「マライアはアルバムからWBTとFLABとでハイレベルなライブパフォーマンスをして2005年で一番成功したアルバムを作り、3部門で授賞したのにも関わらずどうして彼女にスピーチの時間さえ与えさせなかったんだ？」っと痛烈にグラミーを批判しています。「シアラに歌わせる時間を作るならその時間をマライアのスピーチする時間にまわすべきだ！彼女はこの16年間で1億5000万枚ものアルバムとシングルを売っている称えられるべき人なのに、グラミーは未だに彼女を認めていないようだ」っと、ほんと普通に皆が思っていることをちゃんと書いてくれています。もっと書いてくれ〜〜！あと、この記事ではありませんがアフターパーティーで姫は3部門授賞に本当に嬉しそうだったようです。マネージャーは「何もグラミーに言うことなんか無いよ、満足しているし、ハッピーさ♪」っと語っていたようですが...まぁ終わってしまえばそんなものなんでしょうかね。ファンは根に持ちますが（爆）

■ Screaming Mimi
Everybody knows the Grammy telecast is about as spontaneous as Mariah Carey lying motionless on a four-post bed with her hair extensions placed strategically across her body in a softly-lit music video. Usually the producers of the show shrewdly cherry-pick categories to be presented so that every big artist has the opportunity to take to the podium and thank Jesus or their manager. So what was up with Mariah's three wins—Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best R&B Song, and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance—not being televised? Sure, they've switched things up in recent years, keeping us on our toes for three-and-a-half hours by no longer presenting trophies to artists immediately following their live performances, but not letting Mariah accept an award on stage is a blatant slap in the face to the female artist with the most nominations this year and whose last CD was the biggest selling album of 2005. Hell, even Kanye West—whose massive ego is clearly an obstacle in the way of a major win—got to go up there once. Is it confirmation that Mariah isn't respected in the industry? Did they think the meds dried up her tear ducts? Maybe that's just how the chips fell…but probably not.
Mariah did eventually take to the stage for her performance of the Grammy-winning "We Belong Together" and the rousing "Fly Like A Bird." Her voice, though not what it once was, sounded better than it has in a long time, and the electric medley—complete with sermonizing pastor and gospel choir—would have stolen the show if performances by successors like Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera hadn't proven that Mimi isn't the only one who can blow.
Mariah was also upstaged by a few surprise wins. For a while the singer seemed poised to snag at least one of the top prizes she was up for after winning three before the show even started, but emerging frontrunners Green Day won the trophy for Record Of The Year for their ballad "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" (as we predicted last month), and U2, the biggest winners of the night with five awards, added Song and Album Of The Year—one of two times I gasped last night—to their tally, upsetting no one and Kanye West, respectively.
All in all, our predictions were pretty lousy this year: We got less than half right, but we did predict Mariah would lose out on the night's biggest awards. In the end, it's probably for the best, though; if she gets one more #1 single or one more award for The Emancipation Of Mimi, I'm seriously concerned that her clothes might fall off completely.
こちらもさっきの記事とだいたい同じようなこと書いてますが、やっぱりマライアのスピーチタイムを設けていないのはおかしいと批判。こちらの記事ではグラミーの陰謀が伺えるような書き方をしています。「先にスピーチタイムを作らないものを発表してその中にマライアを封じ込めようっていう魂胆だったのでは？」っという感じの内容です。私も思っていましたが、R&B部門でマライアが制覇するのは誰もが予想通りだったことのはず。しかも今回の最多8部門のノミネート者でもあり主役の一人なのに。R&B最優秀男性賞（ジョン・レジェンドが授賞）のスピーチを設けてなぜR&B最優秀女性賞のスピーチタイムはない？オカシイですよね。ってか余談ですがUKでは珍しく生放送ではなく半日遅れての放送だったんですが思いもよらないことが！マライアのパフォーマンスがカットされて放送されなかったらしいんですよ〜！何で？？？あり得ねぇ〜。おそらくかなり抗議のTELとメールが送られてるはずです（爆）

今年のグラミー賞については、事前に2つのことが話題になっていた。1つ目は、マライア・キャリーは15年ぶりのグラミーを獲得できるだろうか？ということ。そして2つ目は、カニエ・ウェストは、ライブ・パフォーマンスにおいても、多くに苦い味を残した受賞スピーチにおいても、話題騒然だった昨年の授賞式以上のことができるだろうか？ということ。その答えは？イエスだ。確実に。
マライアは最優秀R&B楽曲賞、コンテンポラリー・アルバム賞、女性ボーカル・パフォーマンス賞と、計3つのトロフィーを持ち帰ることで、15年間に渡るグラミーの干ばつを終えた。そしてカニエは、衣装（シャツはヘソまで全開で、怪しげなサングラスと意味不明な手袋を着用）や、ある意味控え目な受賞スピーチ、そして斬新なライブ・パフォーマンスで、みんなを驚かせた。

AP通信によれば、授与された賞はトータルで108個。うち、テレビ中継されなかったのが97個。また、“お礼リスト”なるものを携えたカニエ・ウェストだが、彼が感謝を表したのは22人。ジョン・レジェンドは19人。初受賞に泣いてしまったケリー・クラークソン、スピーチの最中に“泣いちゃう”と言った回数が３回。マライア・キャリーの最高音持続時間は７秒間。今回、２つの賞を獲得したスティーヴィー・ワンダー、通算で21個に。

マライア・キャリー、ジョン・レジェンドと共にグラミー賞最多部門にノミネートされていたカニエ・ウェスト。期待が高かったが、主な賞の獲得を逃している。ウェストはビルボードが伝えた楽屋インタヴューで、U2が主要部門を獲得できたのは、彼(カニエ）とマライアで票を分けてしまったからという。ウェスト自身については、審査員による「専門的な諸事情で獲得できなかった。受賞にふさわしくないわけじゃない」と政治的だ。プロデューサーとして名高い彼はまた、これまでの活動で「多くの境界を越えた。ヒップホップができないことをした」とも話している。

今年のグラミー賞を一言で言えば「退屈」しかない。もうね...グラミーに異議あり！です。そもそもオープニングからマドンナを選んだことからグラミーは過ちを犯してると思っています。彼女の出番は来年でしょ？しかもレオタードをよくグラミーが許したなっと思う。マライアの露出についてこれまで辛口だったグラミーですが、レオタードはえぇんかい？コラ！って感じ。そして予想はしていましたが、U2にあまりにも過剰評価し過ぎなんじゃないでしょうか？そしてマライアに厳しすぎる。もっと称えるべきだと強く言いたいです。主要３部門のうち、Record Of The Yearを落としたことが本当に悪夢でした。Why??あり得ません。人気やセールスは関係ないのはわかってますが、どういう選考の仕方をしてるんでしょうかね？2005年のアメリカの記録を作った歌ですよ。どういう理由で外したのか説明して欲しいぐらいです。そして何でスピーチがないんだぁ〜〜〜〜！糞。普通なら３つも授賞してお祝いムードですが、海外ではお祝いというよりは皆怒ってます。確かに当然獲ってあたりまえな賞しか獲っていませんからね...。グラミーをボイコットするべき言葉まで（苦笑）最後のAOTYの発表の時、マライアも映ってましたけど、笑顔に映る寂しそうな目が忘れられません...。しかし、15年ぶり３つの授賞は本当に素晴らしいことです。心からお祝いしたいと思います。そして残念ながら逃してしまった賞も私はMIMIに捧げます！Anyway Congratulations MiMi!!

はい、続々とグラミーの写真がUPされ始めました。バックステージとパフォーマンスの写真です。今日のマライア、心配していた衣装も滑ることなく淡いピンクのとってもエレガントなロングドレスで歌いました。この日の為に万全の体制で喉を労わっていた姫ですが素晴らしい歌声でした。残念ながらスピーチできなかった為、黒いドレスの方はゆっくり見ることができなかったですが、痩せましたね〜。どっちもとても綺麗でした。
